a fresh start

hi there. sorry for the prolonged absence. i've been negligent in my duties to you, fair reader.

here's to a fresh start. since i am giving myself one, i think i might change up the blog a bit. no, i'm not going to stop bringing you all sorts of handmade goodness, i'm just going to sprinkle the blog with a little bit more me.

new site!

oh my, where have i been? i'm here, i promise! and i'll be back to updating now, too! did you miss me? i missed you! i hope you had a magical holiday season.

and now that you're back to the daily grind, here's something to keep you entertained at work, if but for a few minutes.

McNamara Media has a new website! it's the same web address, but a better site. for those of you saying mcnamara what?, this is my and mr. m's site, where we post all the pretty pictures we take as part of our real jobs as photographers.

indie crafeteria TODAY!

hey all you phoenix dwellers, if you don't already have hot plans for your friday night, be sure to stop by frances vintage at central and camelback at 6 tonight for an indie crafeteria!

frances, a fabulous shop, is hosting this event, as well as an open house in the store. there are going to be 30 or so independent crafters with tons of great goodies, so if you are in need of holiday gifts, come on over!

and don't forget to stop by my booth and say hello!!

i voted!

mr. m and i got up at 5 am to vote. we saw a lot of people out as we were walking to our polling station, and, even though we got there at 5:45, there we already about 50 people in line. no one seemed to mind the wait. it was really exciting to see so many people out voting.

so go do your civic duty!

john mccain was scheduled to vote at our polling place later in the day. i guess my vote was going to cancel his out.

outdoor market

as the weather has gotten (relatively) cooler, i have really been missing having my booth at the lincoln farmers market. it really was a lot of fun.

so i am really excited that this saturday i get to participate in an outdoor market. it's actually sponsored by domestic bliss, the shop where i work. they're closing off robson street and filling it with lots of lovely vendors. it should be super fun.

skinny laminx (a trade!)

the lovely heather moore of skinny laminx graciously sent me a little something. i was so excited when this arrived in my mailbox, all the way from south africa! her packaging was lovely, and included a button and a sticker, two of my favorite things!

emedemarta has such a lovely shop. it makes me feel all calm and peaceful.

which is not what i felt last night after i cut my hand with a big old knife, passed out and whacked my head on a cupboard handle in the kitchen. have you ever passed out? i hadn't before last night. it is so totally weird. you're out for no more than 30 seconds, but that apparently is enough time to have a strange dream and wake up in a cold sweat. (and your eyes stay open. creepy.)

thankfully, mr. m is an old pro at passing out, and he took good care of me (he broke my fall. thanks!). i'm fine, really, the cut wasn't even that bad. i guess it was the thought of possibly having to go to the hospital and get stitches (which i didn't need). my head hurt more than my hand. needless to say, we had to reschedule our dinner guests to tonight.

so thank you, emedemarta, for a moment of tranquility.

i have a job!

oh my goodness, can you believe it?

i started my new job today, at the fabulous Domestic Bliss and Blissful Living Studio in downtown mesa. it's really a fantastic shop, and everyone i've met so far has been so kind.

the studio offers a ton of cool classes (check out the calendar and the blog), and hopefully i'll get to teach a couple of classes some day!

another update?!?!

so sorry to inundate you will all these updates, but i have been a crafting fool this week!

a lovely friend of mine requested a special onesie (of the golden gate bridge) for her boyfriend's soon-to-be niece. i was more than happy to oblige! once i made that stamp, i just couldn't stop!

hey all. i'm still away for a couple more days, but i wanted to let you know that i am going to have to put shop sales on hold for a few weeks.

you see, i've sold my house!!

and that means that i have lots to do to prepare for a cross-country move, so i'll need to take a break from sewing for a bit. but you'll be the first to know when i've returned to the crafting world!

and don't fret, i'll still be posting in the meantime!

hey all. i forgot to tell you that i am in arizona again this week for mr. m's birthday. posts will be infrequent to non-existent, as we will be on a road trip to quaint little towns with no cell reception, let alone wireless internet.

that's right, i am now the proud owner (sort of) of two houses! in two states!

michael gets the keys to our new house in phoenix today, and i have yet to sell my house in nebraska. boo.

365 days!

so it's not quite tomorrow yet (two more hours here in the central time zone), but it's close enough.

in 365 days from now, i'll be getting married! i will be on a beach, partying with my loved ones, sipping something tropical, and celebrating my new life with my lovie. i am so excited!

don't worry, this will not become a wedding blog (maybe i'll have to start one...), but i have been thinking about save the date cards lately, although it's still a bit too early to send them out.

that, and i haven't even picked colors yet. oh well. i have a year, right?
